Ohio judge James DeWeese, twice ordered to remove the Ten Commandments posting in his courtroom, has once again appealed his case to the U.S. Supreme Court. After the high court refused to hear his appeal in 2004, Judge Deweese took a new approach:
The poster, designed, framed and hung by Common Pleas Judge James DeWeese in 2006, was titled "Philosophies of Law in Conflict." It compared the "moral absolutes" of the Ten Commandments with the "moral relatives" of humanism, a philosophy that rejects religious beliefs and holds that humans control their actions.
The 6th Circuit wasn't buying it, rejecting his new effort as still an unconstitutional violation of church-state separation. This week the ACLJ filed an appeal on his behalf.
