Members of the U.S. Congress have filed a brief with the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals, arguing that the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA) was intended to protect corporations like Hobby Lobby from government restrictions like the contraception coverage requirement in the Affordable Care Act.

Administrative rulemaking is essential component

After harsh criticism, dozens of lawsuits and heated debate challenging its rules on mandated contraceptive care coverage, the Obama administration announced Feb. 1 “the next step” in providing no-cost preventive care for women, while respecting the religious concerns of their employers. It is clear that the highly-anticipated proposed regulations won’t yet bring the controversy to an end.

Oklahoma Committee Considers Student “Academic Freedom” Bill

an Oklahoma House Committee will consider HB 1674 today, a measure that seeks to protect students who takes contrary positions to scientific theories. While the bill doesn’t mention religious positions contrary to scientific theory, it seems clear that is a primary motivation.
