District court rules against clergy tax break

A federal judge said that an IRS rule allowing clergy to avoid paying taxes on a part of their income designated as a housing allowance violates the constitutionally mandated separation of church and state.

Religious Liberty Essay Scholarship Contest deadline approaching

The March 7 deadline for the BJC’s Religious Liberty Essay Scholarship Contest is just around the corner. Open to all high school juniors and seniors, this year’s contest asks applicants to discuss whether or not religious messages written by students should be allowed at public school events.
