Tomorrow is an important day of perspective in the middle of what can be a crazy season of shopping. #GivingTuesday is an opportunity for you and I to demonstrate our support for those causes we believe in. I hope that you will consider joining me tomorrow in showing your support for the Baptist Joint Committee, an organization that brings a sane voice of faith to the cause of religious liberty. The BJC understands that the separation of church and state is good for both, and has been spreading that message in Washington, D.C. for more than 75 years.

If that’s not enough reason, there is this: first-time donors to the BJC, those who haven’t given in a few years, and those who increase their gift, will be doubled up to $5,000 tomorrow!

Whether or not you demonstrate your support with a donation, don’t let #GivingTuesday go by without adding your voice. At the BJC’s #GivingTuesday page, you can find images, statements, videos, profile pictures and more to share with your family and friends on social media.

Even the White House is in on #GivingTuesday this year. In a message today, President Obama celebrates the day as the “spirit of selflessness and resolve to give back in meaningful ways.”

To meet the challenges faced by the global community, we must come together to spur solutions that affect us all. Around the world, #GivingTuesday is a grassroots movement that illustrates the impact we can have when we all pull together. The investments we make—in both time and funding—can help solve the urgent problems of today and will make the next generation stronger.

The White House blog adds an important personal question: “How will you celebrate #GivingTuesday”?

How will you demonstrate your support for religious liberty and church-state separation? Make your plans now, and let’s put them into action together on #GivingTuesday.
