On June 24, 2009, the Stetson University College of Law honored BJC Executive Director Brent Walker with its Distinguished Alumnus award. The award is presented to graduates of the College  of Law who are recognized as being outstanding in their chosen professions. It also noted Walker’s dedication and his service to humanity and the legal profession.

Walker received the award during the Stetson Lawyers Association Annual Meeting at the Florida Bar Annual Convention. Other alumni were also honored at the event for their contributions to the College.

Walker is a 1976 graduate of the Stetson University College of Law, and he served as an editor of the law review. After practicing law for a decade, Walker enrolled in Southern Seminary in Louisville, Ky., earning a Master of Divinity degree. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Florida. Walker has been the executive director of the Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty since 1999.
